Aeropress Original Coffee Maker
A fast, forgiving brewer that makes a clean, full-bodied cup in about two minutes.
The AeroPress uses immersion and gentle pressure together. Coffee steeps in the chamber, then you press it through a paper microfilter. The result sits somewhere between filter and espresso: heavier body than a V60, cleaner than a cafetière, with none of the fuss of either.
It's been around since 2005, which makes it older than most of the gear people get excited about now. It doesn't get the same attention, but it's stayed in every serious coffee bag for a reason.
Almost everything is adjustable. Grind, dose, temperature, steep time, press speed. Run it standard for a quick, clean brew, or flip it and use the inverted method, where the plunger goes in first and the whole thing steeps upside down. Nothing drips through early, so you control the extraction completely.
Made from BPA-free plastic, so it survives being dropped, packed in a bag, or left in a work drawer.
Brewing
Standard: 15g coffee to 230g water at 90°C, ground medium-fine, press slowly over 30 seconds.
Inverted: assemble upside down with the plunger in about 1cm, add coffee and water, steep 1 to 2 minutes, attach the wetted filter cap, flip onto your cup and press. Keep a firm grip on both parts when you flip.
Our house coffee, El Carmen, works well either way.
